Where did April go? . . .

With the Easter break, the month has flown by but we have not been resting on our laurels!

Building on the ideas and information that we gained from the meetings that I reported on last month, we have been working with MCC to plan our next steps.  This includes –

  • Following up with our contact in the Department for Transport on the process for applying again to the new station fund

  • Designing a ‘Next Steps Workshop’, which MCC has agreed to host and will included invitations to all the representatives from the organisations, government departments agencies and politicians that we have been liaising with.  This event is planned for mid-June.  The ultimate aim of the event is to get ‘Magor and Undy Walkway Station onto the current programme of new stations to be or on a future ‘Metro Phase 3’.

  • Checking on the progress our Assembly Member (John Griffiths) is making within Welsh Government (following last month’s meeting)

As usual this month, we have been planning for our stall at the May Fayre (which we are again doing in conjunction with the MUCH group).  We have a variety of raffle prizes this year, so we hope to see you in the square on the afternoon of Monday 6th May. Let’s hope the weather is kind to us!

Finally, I mentioned a few months ago that the BBC were interested in doing an article on our campaign but unfortunately Brexit and other matters got in the way of it.  The good news is that they have been in touch again – the upshot is that Ted and I will be meeting their representative next week!  More on that at the end of next month (or sooner)!

Thank you for your continued interest and support.

Paul
