🚉 MAGOR & UNDY STATION UPDATE! 🚂
Big steps forward, some frustrating delays, and amazing community spirit—here is the latest on the campaign for our new station! 👇
The Big Updates:
🤝 Council Backing: Monmouthshire County Council (MCC) has officially contacted Network Rail and Transport for Wales to back the Magor/Undy station!
⏳ Project Timelines: MCC is contacting landowners for site surveys (to be done by the end of 2027). However, official stakeholder meetings have been pushed back to January 2027.
🚗 Traffic & Design Debates: We’ve been told a Traffic Management Plan can’t start until station designs are final. We strongly disagree—a plan is needed long before construction begins, and we are pushing back! We’re also working with MP Catherine Fookes to get a meeting with rail bosses to sort out platform design details.
Community & Political Highlights:
🚶♂️ Walk to School Success: Our July walk with Deputy Transport Minister Mark Hooper MS raised £451 for our local schools! Massive thanks to the 178 kids from Magor (£212.50) and 230 kids from Undy (£238.50) who took part.
🏛️ Senedd Visit: Our team went to the Senedd to brief the new Welsh Government representatives. It was a highly productive meeting, and we are building a strong relationship with the administration to keep the pressure on.
The Takeaway:
While we are still battling bureaucratic hurdles and waiting on promised funding, the momentum is real. We are continuing to lobby cross-party to make this station a reality.
