A review, a review and a nice view . . .

Last month I participated in the Senedd’s Petitions Committee process review focus group, which was an interesting Zoom-type collaboration of about 20 people who have used their petition process.  The event was run by some senior staff of Leeds University on behalf of the Senedd.  Inputs will be anonymised, but it will be interesting to see the findings as the process was very successful for the MAGOR group.

More importantly, we have had an update on the progress with the Burns Delivery plans from David McCullum, Transport for Wales Strategic Development Programme Manager and Rail Lead.  David tells us that the station designs are complete and are in the process of being issued for technical review by Network Rail, Local Authorities and internally.  It includes reviews on pricing and finalisation of their constructability.  This will then feed into the business case for the five stations and new services, which is being worked on in parallel.  So, clearly progress is being made and we can only hope that it won’t be too long before we hear the important news we are all waiting for.

Also last month, Ted Hand, Phil Inskip and Laurence Hando visited the Houses of Parliament to speak to Louise Haigh MP the Shadow Secretary of State for Transport.  The meeting was kindly arranged by our ever-supportive MP Jessica Morden. Unfortunately, Louise was detained by an urgent matter in her constituency and so the meeting did not happen.  However, there was time for a photo on the terrace and the good news is that the meeting will go ahead via Teams on 26th of this month.

All for now
