Still chugging along . . .

Earlier this year, having reflected on the success of ‘Magor and Undy Walkway Station’ being included in Welsh Government’s “six new stations for the South Wales Mainline Corridor” plans, I suggested that we would need to be patient.

I can report that, from MAGOR’s fortnightly update meetings with Monmouthshire County Council, progress is still being made.  Our local politicians, Jessica Morden MP and John Griffiths SM, also continue to work with Department of Transport and Welsh Government’s Rail section. We also have a forthcoming meeting with Nigel Roberts, the promoter of Cardiff Parkway (another one of the other six stations) to ‘compare notes’ and identify any common issues.

The speed of delivery of these new stations relies heavily on good cooperation between the Welsh and UK governments as, in the main, rail infrastructure has not been devolved to Welsh Government.  However we believe that, as ‘Magor’ requires little or no major infrastructure modification and the Department of Transport are seemingly very supportive to our proposal, ‘Magor and Undy Walkway’ could be the first of the six to be delivered sooner rather than later.

I will update this page with any significant developments over the coming month but in the meantime, please contact us if you have any questions.
