November update, a little late but worth the wait . . .

  • For the last 14 months, MAGOR group has been consulted as a stakeholder on the South East Wales Transport Commission’s  M4 relief road cancellation study.  You may have heard that the Chair, Lord Burns, published his report a few days ago.  One of the key recommendations in the report is to upgrade the South Wales Main Line between Cardiff and the River Severn and to build 4 new stations – including one at Magor! You can view the full report here but Pages 17 and Page 26 (para. 110) are key.  This a massive step forward and a major achievement for MAGOR.  It follows the news last month that ‘Magor’ is on Transport for Wales’ ‘Priority Schemes’ plan.  We now need Welsh Government to accept the Burns Report recommendations and to push Magor and Undy Walkway as a quick win!

  • Another piece of good news came to us from our MP, Jessica Morden’s office this week.  The Secretary of State for Transport has invited her for further discussions with his officials, as the Magor Station Proposal has been recognised as maybe having potential within the Restoring Your Railways Good Ideas Scheme.

  • We are still waiting for news on the New Station Fund Application but it now really looks like, at long last, the vision is starting to turn into a reality!

Thank you for your support over the years.  It’s sad that there will be no opportunity to talk to you at the Frost Fayre this year (because of COVID obviously) but it may just be a price worth paying.
