Response to Network Rail’s Draft Welsh Route Study

One of our supporters commented that it would be little good having a new station if the rail services weren’t improved.  We totally agree and explained that we take every opportunity to raise issues with the various bodies of the rail industry.

One such opportunity arose recently when we were invited, along with numerous other interested parties, by Network Rail to comment on their draft Welsh Route Study (available for download from here).  Route Study PictureThis is Network Rail’s draft medium and long term investment proposals and so it is very relevant that we comment both to help with gaining a new station for Magor and Undy and to make sure future services will be improved to a satisfactory standard.

We have now submitted our response in a 4 page document which you can read  by clicking here.   We have endorsed the views and comments of other bodies and organisations that we work with, particularly in relation to the deficiencies in rail services and forward planning but have mainly taken the opportunity to highlight the case for Magor & Undy Walkway station both as an essential investment for our community and as a ‘model’ for future new stations elsewhere.

We would welcome your feedback on this or any other relevant matters and you can do that from our Feedback Page.
