April ’14 – MAGOR meeting summary

Our guest speaker this month was Mark Youngman (Transport, Policy and Compliance Manager of Monmouthshire County Council). Mark gave us further advice on progressing our campaign  – particularly in relation to the demise of SEWTA (South East Wales Transport Association) and answered the questions we had about the GRIP process (Governance in Rail Industry Projects).  Mark also stayed for the full meeting and contributed to a number of the other agenda items.

We were also grateful for the attendance of County Councillor David Dovey (Chepstow) who is a keen railway supporter and supports our campaign. David’s advice was most useful and welcomed.

The rest of the evening was largely devoted to –

  • arranging the prize presentations to the winners in our local schools for naming our engine and driver characters on the fridge magnet
  • discussing the outcome of the recent visit of Arriva Trains area station manager, Georgia Cottrell (meeting Ted and Keith)
  • the first progress review of this year’s plan
  • finalising our plans for attendance at this years May Fayre (hope to see you there!)

An email will be going out shortly to all of our supporters which reflects on the highlights of 2014/15.
