Jubilations and a look to the RailFuture . . .

Last month I reported that we had collected enough signatures at the May Fayre to submit to the Senedd’s Petitions Committee for ‘Magor and Undy Walkway’ to be ‘quick win’ for the Burns Delivery Programme.  The petitions committee said that it would help them and us if we did an ‘online’ petition, but the ‘hard copy’ signatures already collected would still count. So, if you didn’t get a chance to sign at the May Fayre, here is your chance to contribute .  Just click on this link. –  https://petitions.senedd.wales/petitions/245175

This month, Ted Hand informed the MAGOR group that he had received some exciting news!  Take a look for yourself below –

“I had some amazing news this morning from Stewart Palmer, Vice President of RailFuture. This was to inform me that MAGOR has been nominated in the Best Rail Campaign Group and Best Rail Website categories at the 2022, National Rail User Group Awards in London to take place later this year. Whilst the competition will be strong, the very fact we are in the competition is testament to the dedication, determination, sheer grit, and devotion you have all shown to the MAGOR cause over the last decade.

I would like to thank the cross-party politicians and their staff for their support, we could not have got this far without your help. Particularly Jessica Morden MP, who was at the MAGOR launch meeting on 14th March 2012 and whose undying support has raised our profile and opened doors with the UK Government. Also, thanks to RailFuture, who believed in our campaign and backed us with a significant financial grant to help fund our campaign. Most of all I would like to thank the most important people of all for their overwhelming support, our great community and local businesses!”

As Ted also said, ‘Win or lose, we’ve been noticed’!
