Early February update . . .

In my December post I reflected on 2021 having been a year of good progress, despite the ever-present scourge of COVID doing its best to delay and derail projects.  I also mentioned that we looked forward to 2022 with optimism, and that we had high hopes with the forthcoming meeting with Professor Simon Gibson, Chair of the Burns Delivery Group.

I’m pleased to say that the virtual meeting, held last month with Simon Gibson and his rail expert David McCullum, was extremely encouraging.  They showed sound knowledge of the Magor and Undy Walkway proposal and great appreciation of the MAGOR group’s efforts over the years. We were delighted when Simon offered to come out and visit the site, not only of the proposed station but the associated, and soon to be built, ‘Community Hub’.  We now have a date in the diary!  Many thanks to the joint offices of John Griffiths MS and Jessica Morden MP for arranging the meeting in January.

Later this month (the 17th), the MAGOR group will be holding its first ‘face to face’ meeting since February 2020. It will be something of a celebratory affair, having missed two Christmas ‘mingles’, but it is also in recognition of the tremendous efforts of the members (past and present) and the great progress made in bringing the station ever closer to reality.
