End of January update . . .

Last month I reported that we were disappointed to learn that Monmouthshire County Council had not been successful in its bid to Welsh Government to fund the Completion of GRIP 3, from its Local Transport Fund.  Since then we have met with Peter Fox and Paul Matthews, Leader and CEO of MCC respectively, to discuss the matter and agree a way forward.

Fortuitously, Peter and Paul, both of whom are fully supportive of the ‘Walkway Station’, had a planned meeting with Welsh Government’s Infrastructure Minister, Ken Skates and agreed to raise the matter with him and challenge the rationale that had been used that failed to allocate funding.  We have now learnt that the minister has authorised one of his rail officials to meet Paul Matthews to discuss the matter further. That meeting is imminent so more news about this next month.

Because of last month’s item on the lack of Welsh Government funding, the BBC have contacted us and started to produce an article for its Wales Online platform.  Moreover, they are now intending to produce an associated item for TV.  We are waiting for a date to start filming and interviewing, but we know they have been a little distracted with certain events in Westminster.

Further updating next month.

Many thanks for your continuing support.

Paul
