Big news this month. . . .

  • You may recall that last month I reported that Monmouthshire District Council had been invited, by Welsh Government, to apply for a grant to help fund completion of the ‘GRIP 3’ feasibility study for the proposed station.  This month, after hearing that a ‘scoping-workshop’ with Network Rail, MCC, Mott MacDonald and Welsh Government had been arranged for mid-January, we learnt that the grant had been awarded!  This is great news and means that it will put us in a very strong position to re-apply, in the New Year, to the UK Government’s ‘New Station Fund’ for the station build.  You can read a report about this excellent news in the South Wales Argus, by clicking here.

  • For once the Frost Fayre was almost frosty and the crowds were out in force to enjoy the annual winter event in Magor Square. Many people (locals and folk from further afield) came up to our stall to find out the latest news and to show their support by entering our prize raffle. Some 70 prizes, generously donated by local firms and individuals, helped us make over £200 to continue the campaign.  The Group thanks everyone for their support and a big thank you to the Magor Churchmen for organising this ever-popular gathering.

  • Whilst there has been fantastic progress towards opening a station to serve Magor and Undy, there has also been significant progress this month towards building an associated ‘Community Hub’ on the Three Fields Site.  You see the latest by going to Magor and Undy Community Hub website

That’s it for this month!  All that remains is to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
