First Meeting of the New Year!

We held our first committee meeting this year on the 23rd January in the Golden Lion function room. Unfortunately our MP, Jessica Morden, wasn’t able to make it this time but she has promised to attend as many as she can.

We were joined this time by one of our members, Phil Walker. We very much welcome members to attend and input to the discussions so please try and attend if you can, we would be delighted to see you. Meeting dates can be seen by clicking here.

One of the main items on the agenda was of course the FREE PRIZE DRAW.  Phil did the honours and pulled out the 16 winning tickets for us.  The results were published on the website on the 24th January and all prizes were delivered to the ‘lucky winners’ by the 30th.  You can still see the winners by looking at the previous post.

The other major items on the agenda were the ‘Review of 2013‘ and the ‘Structured Action Plan‘ for 2014/15. We looked at what had gone well for us in the last year and therefore what we should do more of and also what areas we need to improve on. This led us on to the ‘outcomes’ we would like to see by March 2015 and to start thinking about the critical ‘milestones’ along the way. Also we started identifying the ‘high risks’ that we will need to try and manage so we keep on track with our aim of opening a station by March 2018. We will complete the plan by the end of February, publish it during March for feedback and start using it officially in April.

An action picked up from the previous minutes was to complete the local school visits. We want to get the children of the village schools involved and supporting the campaign. fridgemagnet smallWe are doing this by explaining what ‘Supporting Magor and Undy Walkway Station’ is all about and engaging them in competitions to Name the Train and Name the Driver, depicted on our very popular fridge magnets. Watch this space for the results!

Incidentally, our fridge magnets are still on sale in Magor Post Office, Village Treats, The Mustard Seed and The Wheatsheaf Inn at £1.50 each.
